Shift the maze, spell your way out
3 DAILIESSHIFTING GRIDPORTRAIT~6 MIN
The game
A letter maze that will not hold still. You draw your path from the entrance through
open corridors, spelling words as you go — but the corridor you need is rarely where
you need it, so you shift whole rows and columns to drag the letters into your
path. Every shift rotates the board's letters; nothing is created or destroyed, only
rearranged — the multiset is conserved, and the shift budget is the clock.
Three boards a day
Each mode is its own daily, seeded fresh for the whole world:
- Gates — one true path to the exit, red gates barring it. Play each gate's
word to open its wall — any order — then spell PORTAL to leave.
- Regions — the maze in locked bands. Play the region's word to unlock the
next zone; the board opens downward as you earn it.
- Word Search — the open grid: ten target words, five letters and up, and a
deep shift budget to hunt them with.
How it plays
- Draw a path from the green entrance through open corridors — orthogonal
moves, release to bank the word.
- Shift rows and columns with the arrows to bring letters to your route. Locked
letters — the ones you have already used — stay put when you shift.
- Spend shifts like money: the clear bonus scales with how few you used, and undo
takes back words, never shifts.
Worth a closer look
- The maze is real: a generated labyrinth with a genuine route — the shifting
is not decoration, it is how you reroute a topology that starts against you.
- Guaranteed spellable: every gate word, the exit word and the targets are planted
and supply-checked at deal time — the board is never short the letters it demands.
- Three dailies from one date: Gates, Regions and Word Search are three different
puzzles on the same day, not one maze wearing three hats.
